The use of essential oils and herbal waters for preserving skin is not a new phenomena.  Using oils for cosmetic purposes is believed to have originated with the ancient Egyptians. While originally using herball oils in the process of embalming, they learned of their immense value in preserving the flesh as we can attribute to in present times.

This unique course will train practitioners to customize an aromatherapy facial rejuvenation treatment by utilizing an Oriental Medical approach.  With her twenty-five years of clinical experience using essential oils and knowledge of Oriental Medicine, Ms. Doran has created a highly effective and innovative approach for working with aromatherapy.  She will teach the cosmetic uses of individual essential oils, carrier oils and hydrosols, an exciting new branch of aromatherapy that is extraordinarily useful in treating and caring for the skin.  Highly effective formulas will also be revealed for specific conditions such as dry skin, combination skin, oily skin, acneic skin, sensitive skin, puffiness, sagging skin, age spots, scars and wrinkles. Additionally, protocols using essential oils on distal acupuncture points as a root treatment will also be taught for these conditions.  This root and branch style of aromatherapeutic treatment provides a more dramatic and lasting effect than either approach used separately.  With this highly effective approach to Facial Rejuvenation, one can simultaneously benefit a person's appearance and overall health.

With extensive handouts, the course begins with general information on the subject that anyone practicing aromatherapy should know. This includes: the history of aromatherapy, how it works scientifically on the body and the psyche, the importance of natural versus synthetic products, how to identify and locate high quality products, ways to use them, proper methods of handling and storage, ethical issues, cautions and contraindications, guidelines for making aromatherapy blends, and recommended books and sources for top quality oils, hydrosols, and ready-made aromatherapy products for skin care. Then the Chinese medical energetics and esthetique uses will be given for over sixty essential oils. Thirty carrier oils, and forty hydrosols will be discussed followed by formulas for local (branch) treatment and distal root treatment protocols for the underlying causes of these signs of aging and dysfunction.  Finally, through a hands-on experience, participants will create both a custom essential oil and hydrosol blend for their own use and learn how to apply essential oils to acupuncture points.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Virginia Doran has over twenty-five years of clinical professional experience in the Healing Arts. She graduated from the Swedish Institute of Massage and Allied Health Sciences in 1978 where she has since taught postgraduate courses. Ms. Doran is an NCCAOM Diplomate in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology having received her Masters of Science in Acupuncture from the Tri-State College of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture and also completed their postgraduate course in Chinese Herbal Pharmacology. Virginia is frequently asked to teach practitioners her methods of facial rejuvenation and is sought out by television networks and various publications as an expert on Facial Rejuvenation. The other book for the public is about her entire facial rejuvenation program, which includes acupuncture, acupressure and facial massage, and aromatherapy among other things.
